Traditional Korean Music and Dance Performances at the National Gugak Center
Every Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., exquisite music and dance performances designated as intangible cultural properties of Korea
For thirty years, the National Gugak Center has carried on the mission of preserving and promoting Korean performance arts. The center will offer Saturday performances for just 10,000 won, for a total of fifty performances throughout the year. The shows will be presented on 14 different sets and new programs will be presented each month.
Attendees will be able to get an exquisite glimpse into Korean traditional music, song, and dance by those who have been officially designated as luminaries of the genre. The performances have been designed to gratify both connoisseurs and international visitors unfamiliar with the tradition.
A broad overview of 62 varieties of Korean classical court and folk performances and concerts will be presented on an ongoing basis, including pieces that have been proclaimed as "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO.
